Role of a Food Production Operative

  • Assist in the preparation, processing, and packaging of poultry products.
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently within factory guidelines.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene throughout the production process.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure all products meet established safety and quality standards.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets.
  • Monitor supplies and materials and communicate with leadership regarding replenishment.
  • Handle tasks efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements of a Food Production Operative

  • Experience in a factory or food production environment, particularly with poultry, is preferred but not essential - full training will be provided.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on food safety, quality, and hygiene.
  • Must be physically fit and able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Ability to adapt to shift work and flexible working hours when required.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work cohesively with coworkers.

Shifts

  • AM Shift: Monday to Friday, 5.45am to 3pm.
  • PM Shift: Tuesday to Friday, 3pm to 11pm, and Saturday 9am start (compulsory).

Pay Rate

  • £12.21 per hour
  • Overtime available

Day-to-Day

  • Begin the shift with a team briefing to review daily production goals.
  • Work at assigned stations, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic and organized work environment.
  • Report any issues with equipment or materials to the supervisor.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating with colleagues and supporting each other.
  • Uphold strict food safety standards to ensure all products are safe for consumption.
  • Accurately record production data, as required by factory guidelines.
