About the Role

Engineering Operative - Nelson - up to £38,000

The Engineering Operative supports the engineering and production teams by carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, basic repairs and operational support to ensure food manufacturing equipment runs safely, efficiently and in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

 

The Role of Engineering Operative

  • Assist with preventive and planned maintenance of machinery and production equipment.
  • Carry out basic mechanical repairs.
  • Support breakdown response to minimise production downtime.
  • Support engineering team during machine changeovers, installations, and upgrades.
  • Record maintenance activities in maintenance log.
  • Setting up production lines (flow wrap machines, date coders, inkjets, etc.).
  • Setting up Freemantle machines & printers.
  • Setting up metal detectors & fault finding.
  • Carry out engineering work when needed around the factory.
  • Work strictly in line with food safety, hygieneand contamination controls.
  • Ensure tools and work areas are kept clean, controlled and food safe.
  • Comply with company health & safety policies.

 

The Person

You will have a good knowledge of working with the following: flow wrap machines, metal detectors and ink jets machines, heating systems, conveyor systems, ovens, turbo temp and enrobing machines.

Qualified to a minimum of a NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
