About the Role

CNC Machining Team Leader - Wolverhampton

£29,640

We are proud to be supporting our client in the recruitment of an experienced CNC Machining Team leader to lead their machining section. Overseeing a team operating HAAS CNC vertical mill and machining centres, you will oversee the efficient production of high precision aluminium extrusion components and ensure quality is second to none.

This is a key leadership role combining strong technical CNC expertise with people management, process optimisation, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

The Role

Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of CNC operators and setters in daily operations.

Plan and coordinate workloads, machine schedules, and resource allocation to meet production targets.

Perform complex setups, prove-out programs, and operate Haas CNC machines (primarily VF-series mills) when required.

Oversee machining of aluminium extrusions - including fixturing, tool selection, speeds/feeds optimization for aluminium alloys.

Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.

Troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, and program inefficiencies quickly to minimize downtime.

Maintain high standards of quality - conduct first-off inspections, in-process checks, and final verification using precision measuring equipment.

Train and mentor team members in best practices for Haas controls (NGC), G-code editing, toolpath strategies, and safe operation.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives - reduce cycle times, improve material utilization, minimize scrap, and implement lean principles.

Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations, 5S standards, and company procedures.

Monitor machine maintenance schedules and report any issues to maintenance team.

Liaise with production planning, quality, and engineering teams to resolve technical or scheduling issues.
